5 Surprising Reasons Why Your Pinterest Account is Stuck

5 Surprising Reasons Why Your Pinterest Account is Stuck

Reason #1 Why Your Pinterest Account is Stuck: You aren’t Pinning Enough

The Smart Feed (Pinterest’s algorithm) values pinners who are pinning on a consistent basis.

They’ll end up showing your pins more in the Smart Feed if you are pinning on a consistent basis.

How much should you be pinning?

If you’re just starting out, I would pin 5 times per day (a mix of your content and other people’s content).

If you’re a bit more advanced, you can pin up to 30 times per day.

I know that seems INSANE, but it’s all scheduled with Tailwind so I’m not literally on my computer pinning every hour of the day.

Tailwind is a Pinterest scheduling tool that is super simple to use and I highly recommend checking it out for the scheduling feature, as well as the Tailwind Tribe feature, which will help you increase your Pinterest reach.

Reason #2 Why Your Pinterest Account is Stuck: You’re Not Using Keywords

Pinterest is a search engine, just like Google.

If you want your pins to show up, you need to make sure that you’re using keywords effectively on your Pinterest account.

BEFORE I ever write a blog post, I do keyword research to find a relevant topic that my audience is truly searching for. Otherwise, it’s a waste of time! If you don’t use the right keywords, it’s more than likely that no one is ever going to see your content.

Using keywords on Pinterest is super important because Pinterest is more of a search engine than it is a social media platform.

Using the right keywords factor in how many people will actually see your content on Pinterest.

The more niched down and specific you can get with your keywords the better.

When I niched down in my fitness business from just fitness to intermittent fasting and eating a keto diet, my blog traffic exploded from Pinterest.

By niching down and using the right keywords on Pinterest, you’ll be able to target a specific audience. #heckyes

Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy peasy to use keywords on Pinterest.

The easiest way to use keywords on Pinterest is to use simple words that fit in your niche. We are using long tail keywords to be more niche specific. Long tail keywords are just 3, 4, 5, or even 6 words together.

Some of the long tail keywords that I use in my Pinterest business are:

  • How to get more leads
  • Pinterest marketing strategy
  • Social media marketing tips
  • Female entrepreneur tips
  • Social media marketing strategy

Instead of using one word such as Pinterest or Social Media, these long tail keywords that are more specific help me beat any competition and show up in the Pinterest search engine.

How do you find what people are actually searching for when it comes to your specific business?

I’ve got a free workbook right here for you to download with how to actually find what people are searching for, and then I’ll guide you through how to choose the right keywords for your business and where to put them.

Reason #3 Why Your Pinterest Account is Stuck: Your Pins Don’t Have a Call To Action

Every single time you upload a pin, you should make sure that your Pin description is keyword rich AND has a call to action.

My call to action is always to get the pinner to repin and click through to read the post.

If you give too much information away on the pin itself, the pinner doesn’t have a reason to actually read your post.

Give them enough information to pique their curiosity so they’ll want to check out the blog post.

See how I did this below:

Reason #4 Why Your Pinterest Account is Stuck: You’re Not Niched Down Enough

The riches are in the niches. You can’t be all things to all people.

If you want your Pinterest account to take off, you must be niched down.

When I was in my fitness business, I was trying to teach general health and fitness tips with little results.

When I niched down to teaching keto (high fat low carb) and intermittent fasting, my traffic exploded and my email list grew like crazy.

Think about the content that you’re posting. Is it too generic? Can you niche it down even more?

Reason #5 Why Your Pinterest Account is Stuck: Your Pins Suck

I don’t mean to be blunt lol, but if your pins aren’t on point, you’re not gonna get results.

You don’t have to get an art degree or anything, but you do need to know the basics of creating a great quality pin that stops your ideal clients scroll.

I call them ‘stop the scroll worthy’.

Most pinners are scrolling on their phone, and you want your image to stand out enough that your ideal client actually stops their scroll, reads the pin description, and then clicks through to the blog post.

Your pins should be:

  • Vertical
  • Have bold text
  • Include a call to action

See these examples below:

And you can check out this post for more information on creating high-quality pins: https://www.rachelngom.com/create-pinterest-images-convert/

Conclusion:

To sum up, if you want your Pinterest account to generate leads on autopilot, you must make sure you’re:

  • Pinning consistently
  • Using keywords
  • Including a call to action
  • Niched down
  • Creating quality pins

How to Create an Unforgettable Brand (with Sashka Hanna-Rappl): Episode 071

Episode 071:

On today’s episode, I’m interviewing Sashka Hanna-Rappl. We talk about how to create a brand that is unforgettable. Her methods help entrepreneurs create and market an unforgettable brand that is tailored to the entrepreneur rather than the profession.

Takeaways:

  • Sashka says that to make a big difference, your brand has to come from your life purpose. If your life purpose, your ultimate goal, is the base of your brand, you will never have to recreate yourself- this way you’re expanding on your starting mark.
  • If you focus only on your products, you are downplaying your brand. Your ego gets in the way of this. You have to learn to focus on other solutions to bring yourself to the forefront.
  • You need to get your people. You don’t want to be someone else, you need to attract your tribe of people you want to work with. From a young age, Sashka talks about how we’re taught to copy. But you want to be yourself. You need to learn to be yourself, whatever that means.
  • If you want to go further with a brand, Sashka says you will always be in an uncomfortable zone. However, if you focus on your life purpose of your brand, your ego will be driving you, in the best way possible.
  • “When you speak to everybody, your speaking to nobody”- SO KEY! You need to have a niche. You need to draw in an audience that is unique to you, your brand, and peoples thought patterns.
  • The dark side of entrepreneurship is overachieving. You need to have boundaries for yourself, and reach out to a community and talk to them, not keep everything inside to yourself. You need to get out those thoughts holding you back.
  • Sashka says you need to trust yourself. You have power within you to really create the life you want. Trust that you can do it, all that power is within you.

Highlights:

  • (3:30) A little more about Sashka.
  • (4:38) What is “Soul Branding”
  • (6:35) How is the mainstream killing our brands, and how can we fix that?
  • (8:43) If you’ve been trapped inside the box, what are Sashka’s tips to get outside the box?
  • (11:07) Tips on being YOU.
  • (13:10) How to find your alter ego…the person who accentuates who you are.
  • (15:22) How to achieve brand clarity.
  • (18:57) When you’re creating a brand, what are the first steps you should take?
  • (21:02) Why is a logo something business should hold off on?
  • (25:07) Sashka talks about niching down…why it’s the key to success for entrepreneurs.
  • (30:37) The dark side of entrepreneurship, and how to combat it.
  • (33:01) Tips to help with setting boundaries and not overworking yourself.
  • (36:50) Why you don’t have to wait for the perfect time to start…just do it!
  • (38:03) What’s the best book Sashka’s ever read?
