You might be wondering…what’s the difference between an opt-in page vs a landing page…there’s the same thing =) Opt-in page, freebie, freemium, lead magnet, landing page, they are all essentially the same thing.
Opt-In Page Tools:
First, let’s talk about the kind of tools you’ll need for your opt-in page.
There are a million options, but I want to keep things super simple for you.
There’s only one tool that I recommend for building a killer opt-in page because it’s budget friendly and it WORKS.
It’s LeadPages. Even when I was bootstrapping my biz in the beginning, the one thing I DID invest in was LeadPages, because it’s so easy to use and it’s pretty cheap.
Yes, we also have ClickFunnels, but I rarely recommend it to my students (especially beginners) just because it starts at $97/month, and quickly escalates to $297/month.
Is it awesome and does it pay for itself? Yes. But I don’t think you should start there.
Could you use a free program like MailChimp or Bloom plugin for WordPress? Yes, but you get what you pay for. They don’t look as good and they won’t convert as well.
Opt-In Page Offers:
In order to create a killer opt-in page, you need to know what you’re offering.
This cheat sheet will help you decide on your offer and give you tons of ideas.
Opt-In Page Best Practices:
Some of the things you need to be aware of when creating an opt-in page:
Simple converts best. You don’t need tons of text or a long opt-in page, just a great headline that shows them that your freebie will solve their problem.
See this example? I just have a headline that shows how I’m helping.
Include a logo and make sure it’s on brand. You need to look professional and having a great logo will do that. Luckily, some of my students are awesome and can help you with this.

Make sure your button is above the fold, meaning you don’t need to scroll down to see it.
Optimize your button. That sounds weird lol, but your button should be a bold color that stands out and it should have a fun call to action (more than just ‘subscribe’).
And to put it all together, here’s a tutorial on how to actually create an opt-in page that converts.
