10 Super Smart Ways to Get More Clients (even if you’re just starting out)

10 Super Smart Ways to Get More Clients (even if you’re just starting out)

Wanna get more clients?

One of the questions I get asked all the time is: Rachel, how the heck do I get more clients?

I hear you. If you’re brand spanking new in biz this can seem totally overwhelming! But I’ve been there (twice!) and I’ve got some great strategies to help! Get ready, cause this is a good one =)

How to get more clients Idea #1: Pinterest

Of COURSE I’m going to say Pinterest!!!! I get new clients DAILY from Pinterest.

It’s important to make sure that your blog content is in alignment with what you’re pinning, so that when someone comes to your bog, they think WOAH this is perfect!! I need this chick!

Then when they see that you have something for sale, again, in alignment with what they came to your blog for, they’re gonna be wayyyyy more likely to jump on your offer.

Example: My fitness blog is all about eating keto (high fat low carb), so I narrowed down my entire blog focus to JUST post about that. I used to share everything on my blog, but when I narrowed down my focus, I became the ‘go-to’ person for keto.

When they come to my blog, they see that it’s super helpful and they needed everything that I was sharing! They then see a free meal plan that they can get, so they enter their name and email address to get it. After they opt-in, they land on something called a tripwire, which is basically just a sales page where I’m offering my keto eBook for sale at a discount for a limited time offer. They see that it’s answering ALL of their keto questions, so they grab it!

Obviously, I have an entire strategy that goes into that that I cover in detail in Pin with Purpose, but if you just want the basics to get started, grab my free cheat sheet here.

How to get more clients Idea #2: Referrals

Referrals rock! One customer is not just one customer. One customer could be an entire client base—IF you do this right.

Make sure you’re always over-delivering with your programs and services, then when it’s appropriate, ask for the referral!

Here’s an example of what I’d say: “I’ve absolutely loved getting to work with you! I’m working on building up my clientele and was wondering if you knew of anyone else who would benefit from my services?”

How to get more clients Idea #3: Twitter Search

I’m kind of new to the Twitter game, but one of my top strategies in Pin with Purpose has exploded my Twitter account (woot!) so I’ve started to play around with the search feature on Twitter. I’ll search for keywords related to my niche, then just answer the questions and help. No selling or anything like that, just help.

10% of my traffic now comes from Twitter and I’ve landed some new clients because of it.

How to get more clients Idea #4: Follow Up

Most people don’t buy the first time you try to sell them something. You need to follow up! I send personal follow up messages to people all the time, not just to sell them something, but to catch up and let them know I’m thinking about them.

You should also follow up with people who have already purchased from you. I literally was just sending out follow up emails to people who are purchased Pin with Purpose to invite them to upgrade to our group coaching program that’s starting out this week.

You aren’t annoying them by following up! Most people are busy and they appreciate the fact that you reached out to them!

Follow up follow up follow up. The fortune is in the follow up!

How to get more clients Idea #5: Guest Podcast

Would you like me to do a blog on how I get featured on podcasts? This is HUGE. You’re getting free publicity and getting in front of someone’s entire audience!!

I added over 200 new email subscribers (and got a ton of sales) from just 1 podcast. That one podcast led to other opportunities for an even bigger reach (I’ll share deets with you later this month!)

It’s a part of my to-do list to pitch to be on podcasts, so I’m doing this every single week.

How to get more clients Idea #6: Facebook Live

Nothing converts quite like live video does!! People get to know, like, and trust you when they see you’re a HUMAN and not just another marketer behind a computer.

I’ve booked high paying clients just from Facebook live because it shows me as an authority AND makes me more relatable. Make it a point to go live every single week.

Consistency is the key here, so set a schedule for say, every Thursday at 12pm EST and stick to it!

How to get more clients Idea #7: Free 5 Day Challenge

I love launching with a 5-day challenge! This gives you a way to provide massive value to your audience, makes you an authority figure in your niche, and after you add massive value, you can pitch your products or services at the end.

Big bonus: It’s a massive list builder!

My last 5-day challenge earned over $5,000! Think of what you want to sell, then reverse engineer it so you’re adding massive value in something related to the topic during the 5 days.

How to get more clients Idea #8: Webinar

Webinars rock. Same ideas as the 5-day challenge, except its 60 minutes and you’re done! I’ve made over $1,000 on a 45-minute webinar!

Again, the key is to add massive value to your audience and solve one of their problems before you pitch your product or service at the end.

How to get more clients Idea #9: Do Market Research

This is how I landed a bunch of my first clients. I made a list of everyone that I knew who I could help with my services and just reached out to them and asked if I could ask them a few short questions on video chat.

My goal wasn’t to land a new client, but it was to get to know my ideal client and see what they’re struggles were so I could help them. I really tried to pay attention to their language (so I could write better copy) and took a ton of notes.

I had a list of questions like:

  • What is your #1 struggle in your biz right now?
  • How are you currently using social media?
  • What are your goals?

I set out to ask questions and listen, and when I could, I offered a bit of advice and offered to help them solve their problem (with my course or 1 on 1 coaching).

I wasn’t able to help every single person, but a lot of them saw that they had massive gaps in their businesses and I was able to help them.

Market research is huggggge, especially if you’re brand new. Try to interview as many people as possible so you can see what your ideal clients really need and how you can help them!

How to get more clients Idea #10: Facebook Groups

Facebook groups are an excellent way to get more clients! The key is to hang out where your ideal client is hanging out, participate and add value!

My ideal client isn’t hanging out in mommy groups, but she is hanging out in female entrepreneur groups. Think about where she is and how you can connect with her.

When you’re in the group, just be you! Don’t have an agenda! Interact with people and be helpful.

In several of my facebook groups, I’m now known as the go-to Pinterest expert, so whenever someone has a question on Pinterest, I get tagged.

Set aside some time each week to engage and add value in your groups, then if they ever have a promo day, share your freebies! This has really helped me grow my list and get new clients.

There you go! 10 ways to get more clients.

It’s time to take ACTION! Which one will you implement today?!

The Ultimate Guide to Repurposing Content on Pinterest

The Ultimate Guide to Repurposing Content on Pinterest

Get my 10 Pinterest hacks that increased my traffic by 34,000/month! Click the button below to grab my free cheat sheet!

Want to learn how to work smarter by repurposing content? In this post, I’ll share with you 10 different ways I use 1 piece of content!

If you’ve been following my blog for some time now, you know that I’m obsessed with creating content.

Content is THE #1 thing that changed my business.

I used to just post on Facebook and Instagram and sometimes throw a blog post up….

But when I committed to creating in-depth, super helpful content every single week, my biz really started to take off.

Creating quality content can take a long time, especially if it’s the stuff that I’m teaching here, which is knock your socks off content that makes cold traffic want to stick around and see how else they can learn from you!

Since it takes so much time creating these epic blog posts, I wanted to make the most of my time and started repurposing my content.

This is how people can see me on almost every social media platform! It just started with 1 piece of content that I’ve repurposed into several different platforms.

Want the video version of this post? Scroll down to the bottom =)

What is repurposing content?

Essentially, it’s taking something that you’ve already created (like a blog post), and turning it into something else (like a video).

In this post, I’ll go super in depth with the different ways that I repurpose my content.

Benefits of repurposing content

Why should you repurpose your content? Repurposing content can:

  • Increase your social reach! Instead of just being a blogger, you can turn a blog into a youtube video, a Facebook live, an Instagram post, etc! So you can be found on all of these different platforms instead of just your blog! Repurposing a blog post into a Facebook live video can increase your engagement by 62%!!
  • Help you gain authority in your niche! When people start seeing your name/brand on multiple different platforms, they start seeing you as an authority in your niche.
  • Boost your SEO ranking. Linking back to your site helps increase your SEO rankings, plus more content means you have more opportunities to receive backlinks.
  • Get your main points across. Repetition is the mother of skill! Sometimes people need to read, hear, or watch something for it to really sink in. By providing content in multiple formats, you’re helping your audience really learn your key points.

Repurposing Content: What kinds of content should you repurpose?

I don’t think every single piece of content should be repurposed, but if it’s evergreen (aka timeless), a popular post, content that’s getting a lot of engagement already, or content you can expand on, repurpose it!

An example is a blog post that I did that went viral on Pinterest. As of this writing, it’s been repinned over 80,000 times!

I decided to create a youtube video to go with it, and yup, the video is doing well on Youtube too having been viewed over 10,000 times in two months!

So if you have something that’s getting tons of engagement, ask yourself: how else can I use this content?

Repurposing Content: How should you do it?

I’m going to share with you my strategies for repurposing content…it may seem like a ton of work, but really it’s not! Creating the first piece of content is really the hardest part, then the rest is easy peasy!

Repurposing Content Idea 1: Blog Post

Every week I create a blog post (like this one).

I sit down and write out a helpful post (for each of my businesses). If you need help creating content and want to know step by step how I come up with content like this blog, this is a great post to help you do that.

If you haven’t committed to writing consistent content, dude, it’s time to start. Your audience needs to know that they can count on you, and that comes from showing up regularly!

Repurposing Content Idea 2: Medium.com

Then I upload the blog to medium.com. Medium is a great site where you can connect with other bloggers and get your content found! You can follow me on Medium here.

This step literally takes 5 minutes and can be a great way to get more eyeballs on your content.

Repurposing Content Idea 3: Pinterest Graphics

I also create several different graphics for the post that I then share on Pinterest.

Yes, I also have a blog post on how to create rocking Pinterest images that convert, and you can check that out here.

I made four different graphics for this blog post, you can see those below.

Repurposing Content Idea 4: Youtube Video

I take the outline from the blog post and create a video that I send off to my video editor. I save the Youtube video my editor sends me and upload it (with the right keywords and titles so it ranks on Youtube—that’s a whole other post lol). I also embed it in the blog post.

If the blog post is getting a ton of traction, sometimes I save that video and use it as a content upgrade so I can give people the video in exchange for their email address.

What’s a content upgrade?

Essentially, it’s a way that you can upgrade your post and collect email addresses. So a video or cheat sheet that dives deeper into the topic of the post could be a great content upgrade. You can see an example of a content upgrade I did in this post here.

Repurposing Content Idea 5: Facebook Live

I take the same content and go live on Facebook. If you want to, you can skip creating the youtube video and just go live and repurpose that Facebook live video on Youtube, but since I’m building up my Youtube channel right now I’m focused on creating content specifically for Youtube.

I essentially take the same outline from the video I created for Youtube, and use that to go live. Live video is where it’s AT on Facebook right now, so be sure you’re taking advantage of that feature, and of the content that you’ve already created!

Repurposing Content Idea 6: Facebook & Instagram Posts

Then, I take bullet points from the blog post and turn them into Instagram and Facebook posts.

If I cover 6 bullet points in my blog post about how to crush it on Pinterest, I can turn that into 6 Facebook or Instagram posts! Just create a square image in Canva so you can share it on Instagram and Facebook. The post below was just one of the tips I mentioned in this epic blog post.

Repurposing Content Idea 7: SHARE everywhere, especially Pinterest!

I use Social Warfare to share the blog post on all social platforms, especially Pinterest, with my description and a call to action. Yes, I cover how to do that in my free cheat sheet =)

Then, I share the Pinterest graphics with my group boards and Tailwind Tribes. Like I shared above, I’ve created several different graphics for this one blog post, so I can upload a picture/day to each of my boards and tribes.

Repurposing Content Idea 8: Freebie, eBook, or eCourse

If it’s content that is really resonating with my audience, I’ll either turn it into a freebie (put the blog post into a pretty PDF) on my site, or I’ve even turned several blog posts in a series into an eBook that I’ve gone on to sell.

Obviously, the eBook was way more than just the blog posts, but it gave me a great base to work from, and I knew my audience would eat it up (they did, they crashed my site the day it launched).

I’ve done the same thing with my course, Pin with Purpose. You might find similar content on my blog, but you won’t see the entire system unless you’re inside of the course. Think of it like the blog posts are going to give you quick wins, and account for 10% of what someone needs to know to have success with Pinterest. The course? That’s the whole shebang bang and it’s everrrrrything someone needs to know to crush it on Pinterest, from start to finish.

Repurposing Content Idea 9: Webinar

I’ve taken several of my popular blog posts and turned them into a webinar, where I could teach and then sell my next program or product.

All you need to do is take the main points from your blog post and put them on your slides, with an introduction at the beginning and your pitch at the end. #boom

Repurposing Content Idea 10: Email your list

Are you ever lost on what to send to your list?

Just because someone is on your email list, doesn’t mean that they read every single blog post you make.

So send them an email and let them know what the post is all about. I typically will email my list with a brief snapshot about what the post is all about, then provide the link to the blog and also the link to where they can pin it (which increases my traffic on Pinterest!).

I know this probably sounds like a LOT, but I swear once you get into the workflow, it’s really not!

I have a designated day for each task and have created smart systems to make this way easier!

Also, you can totally add an audio element to this, like upload the content to a podcast…I just haven’t done that yet. Should I create a podcast? Would you listen?

How to Share Instagram Pictures and Facebook Videos on Pinterest to Explode your Traffic on Social Media

How to Share Instagram Pictures and Facebook Videos on Pinterest to Explode your Traffic on Social Media

Want to share your Instagram pictures or Facebook videos on Pinterest? In this post, I’m going to teach you how to share Instagram pictures and Facebook videos on Pinterest so you can explode your traffic on social media!

Get ready, these hacks are awesome!!

While I suggest using Pinterest to get more traffic to your blog and building your email list, you might not have a blog yet! Or you want to use Pinterest to help boost your traffic on your Facebook videos or Instagram pictures! Which is totally cool! If so, this post is definitely for you!

There are a few different ways that you can share your social media content to Pinterest. Let’s start with Instagram.

Oh, and if you’re more of a visual learner, I’ve included a video tutorial to walk you through this at the bottom!

How to share Instagram pictures to Pinterest from your phone (spoiler alert–this way is hardest and most annoying. If you want the hacks to make this way easier, skip this one and scroll down to where it says how to share from your computer).

What you can do is manually share each picture that you post to Pinterest by copying the URL of the image from Instagram.

First, open the image you want to share, and click on the three dots on the top right of the screen.

Then, click the share button.

Click the copy link button.

Awesome! Now that the link is copied, let’s go over to the Pinterest app. At the top right you’ll see the plus sign, which is what you’ll press to upload a new pin.

Click the pin photo button at the bottom.

Upload the image, select the board you want to publish it to, and add whatever description you want.

Then, you’ll go back to your boards, click on the board you uploaded it to, then click on the pin again so you can edit the URL.

Click on the pencil at the top left so you can edit the pin.

Paste the URL from Instagram and click save. Woot! You did it!

Now, do you want me to show you how to do this from your computer? It’s going to be way easier!!

How to share Instagram pictures to Pinterest from your computer:

The second way you can do it is to have the Pinterest chrome extension set up and share from your desktop. Open up Instagram on your computer, click on the Pinterest extension, and select the picture you want to pin. Easy peasy!

Watch the video tutorial below!

How to share Instagram pictures to Pinterest automated with Zapier (best way!)

That can be tedious if you do this for every image, so what you can do is use a little automation program to help called Zapier.

Just search Pinterest in Zapier (or go to https://zapier.com/app/editor/template/11908) and you’ll see the option to create what’s called a Zap (automation).

You can select to sync your new Instagram pictures to a Pinterest board! Then, you can select the board you want to sync the pictures to and Zapier will take care of the rest! Now, all of your Instagram pictures will be shared to Pinterest automatically, to the board you selected and the URL you choose. You don’t have to do anything else now. Cool, huh?

How to share Facebook posts and video to and Pinterest:

You can do the exact same thing with Facebook, or I’ll show you another cool trick to make your pins stand out!

Step 1: Create a Facebook video (or post, but I think this is a great way to get more traction on your Facebook live videos).

Step 2: Create a Pinterest friendly graphic with the title of your video. Def check out my post on how to create Pinterest friendly graphics here.

Step 3: Upload the graphic you made to Pinterest, create a description and make sure you copy the URL from Facebook and insert it when uploading the pin, so the traffic from the pin will be directed to your Facebook post/video!

That’s it!

How to Start a Successful Blog in 2018 (Easiest Ways to Start a Blog)

Ready to take your biz to the next level? Get free instant access to my online vault of videos, worksheets, and more for female entrepreneurs!

Thinking about starting a blog? Awesome!!!

I never considered myself a ‘blogger’….but when I started my fitness business back in 2011, I wanted another platform to share my tips, recipes, and more!

So I started a blog on WordPress. I had no clue what I was doing lol!

Since those humble beginnings (dude, some of those early posts are embarrassing!), I’ve been able to monetize my blog and make thousands of dollars through sales of eBooks and online courses.

In this post, I’m going to cover a few different options for you to start a blog.

I’ll give you a few options to create a blog for free, but I’m definitely going to suggest you start your blog on WordPress and pay for hosting. It’s cheap to start, and I’ll explain in more details in the post.

First, let’s go over the basic steps you’ll need to start a blog:

  1. Register a domain and hosting
  2. Pick your theme
  3. Modify your blog to fit your style
  4. Add any plugins
  5. Write compelling, consistent content!

Want to create a blog for free? You can use blogging platforms like wix.com, but I don’t recommend it for a few reasons…

  1. It doesn’t look as professional (they leave their logo on the site)
  2. The site loads slower
  3. Your customization options are limited
  4. You technically don’t own the content

The difference between a free website and one you pay for is literally $3/month. Splurge a little 😉 and own your blog!

Let’s get into the steps of how to create a successful blog in 2017!

How to Create a Successful Blog in 2017 Step 1: Register a domain and hosting.

You can use a site like bluehost.com to register your domain and hosting. Domains can cost as little as $10, or you can get them for free with your hosting package.

Quick tips for choosing a domain name…make sure it:

  1. Is easy to remember
  2. Is .com (not .info or anything like that)
  3. Doesn’t have any numbers or dashes or anything like that. Think simple over clever.
  4. Not sure what to use? Your name is probably a safe bet.

fitwithrachel.com > fit-with-rachel.com

Don’t get stuck on this part. Your content is ultimately what’s going to be the deciding factor in your success, not your blog’s name. Decide on a name and keep moving!

Here are step by step instructions to purchasing your domain and hosting with Bluehost:

1.Go to BlueHost.com. Be sure to use this link so you’ll save 50% and get a free domain when you register.

2. After you click the button to get started on the homepage, you’ll see the pricing options. You don’t need anything more than the basic version at this point, but when your traffic increases, you may need to upgrade your hosting (it’s a good problem to have ;)).

3. You can decide on if you want to pay month to month, by the year, or 36 months. I def suggest just paying for 36 months up front, you’ll save $$, and BlueHost offers a 30-day risk-free guarantee.

4. After you select your plan, you’ll choose your domain.

5. After you’ve decided upon a domain, you’ll just fill in your contact and billing info. You’ll have a few upgrade, options and the only one I recommend is Domain Privacy Protection, which will keep your info private.

6. Click submit then boom! You’ve got your own website!

How to Create a Successful Blog in 2017 Step 2: Pick your theme

After setting up your password in BlueHost, BlueHost should direct you to an area to pick out a theme. If not, just click on ‘appearance’, then ‘themes’ in your dashboard.

There are a TON of free themes that you can choose from, and you can change these whenever, so don’t stress out too much about this part.

After a few years of blogging, I decided to upgrade my theme to Divi, but you can totally start with a free theme if you’re on a budget.

Paid themes will typically cost $50-$100, but they’re typically more customizable and have better support than any free theme will.

Just keep in mind that 99% of successful bloggers own their website and they upgraded to a more customizable theme.

How to Create a Successful Blog in 2017 Step 3: Modify your blog to fit your style

After selecting a theme, you should be directed to the dashboard for your new site.

If you’re brand spanking new to the blogging world and you’re not a techie, this part may seem a bit daunting. It was for me…but after playing around with my site, I started to figure it out and now it’s easy. With the Divi theme, I do zero coding…it’s just drag and drop. #score

You’ll want to modify your theme to fit your brand, use your colors, etc. If you’re not sure how to pick out brand colors, I have a tutorial of how I picked out my brand colors and logo in my Insider Vault, you can join for free here.

Don’t stress. If at any point you think this is over your head, you can totally outsource this to someone on upwork.com.

Just remember, simple is best, and done is better than perfect. I put up rachelngom.com in a day, then over time I went in and made tweaks as I saw fit.

How to Create a Successful Blog in 2017 Step 4: Add any plugins

Plugins give your site a few more customized options, but don’t go crazy here. For every plugin you add your site will start to slow down.

The (free) plugins that I use and recommend are:

Yoast SEO

JQuery Pin it Button for Images

Social Warfare

Pretty Links

How to Create a Successful Blog in 2017 Step 5: Write compelling, consistent content!

This is the key part!! You won’t be able to monetize your blog if you aren’t actually writing content that helps others!

Decide on a niche topic that you want to talk about, and stay focused on providing a weekly post dedicated to helping others in that niche.

This post goes into a ton of detail about how to write awesome content that people will actually find.

If you want to learn how to increase traffic to your new blog for free, be sure to check out Pin with Purpose, my course that will teach you step-by-step how I was able to increase the traffic on my fitness blog from 2,000/month to 36,000/month (for free).

What are Pinterest Rich Pins, Why do you Need Them, and How do you Set Them Up?

Out of all of my social media platforms (which have over 100,000 followers), it’s Pinterest that drives the most traffic to my blog. For free!!!

If you’re new to Pinterest and not sure why you should be there for your business, in this post, I go over 6 reasons why you need to focus on Pinterest for your business.

On to the content! Today, I want to show what Rich Pins are on Pinterest, why you need them, and how to set them up.

Rich pins are just pins on Pinterest that have your website name and icon displayed underneath the pin image, which easily directs users to you!

If you’re confused, you can check out all of my pins here and see what they look like.

See how the title of the blog post is in bold?

There are four different kinds of Rich Pins, and they all show extra info directly on the pin.

  1. Product Pins include real-time pricing, availability and where to buy your product.
2. Article Pins shows a headline, author and story description.
3. Recipe pins show ingredients, cooking time, and serving sizes
4. App Pins show an install button so people can download your app without leaving Pinterest.

If you log into your Pinterest analytics, you can see your top pins, and at the very right you can see pin type. Those with an ‘R’ are Rich Pins.

Before you set up Rich Pins, be sure that your Pinterest account is a business account. It’s simple to switch over and you can do that here.

How do you set up Rich Pins on Pinterest? You can do it in three easy steps!

Step 1 to Install Pinterest Rich Pins: Install the Yoast SEO Plugin

In order to apply Rich Pins to your site, you need to add certain meta tags to your site. Not a techie? Me neither!! Yoast makes this easy peasy.

Yoast (I keep getting autocorrected to toast lol!) is an SEO plugin that I loooove! It can boost your blog’s rankings in Google when you use it right. So whether or not you use it for Rich Pins, I def suggest it for the SEO purposes. And it’s free!

Install and active Yoast, then go to the Yoast’s ‘Features’ tab.

Make sure that the ‘Advanced settings pages’ is enabled, and that will enable metadata

Step 2 to Install Pinterest Rich Pins: Visit the Rich Pin Validator

Go to Pinterest’s Rich Pin Validator, and plug in a link to any blog post on your site (but not the homepage). It doesn’t matter which blog post, you just need one.

Then click ‘validate’.

Step 3 to Install Pinterest Rich Pins: Apply!

After you validate, you’ll see a message saying ‘your pin’s been validated!’

Click ‘apply now’. A pop-up will appear with your site’s domain and ‘HTML tags’ selected.

Click ‘apply now’ again.

Woot! You’re done!!

Just wait a few days while Pinterest approves your application. Once it’s approved, your pins will be nice and pretty with your website name on each pin.
